Brighter lights. Bigger stage. A road-game atmosphere 2,400 miles from home. None of that stopped Jada Blackwell and the Broncos on Tuesday.

The Cal Poly Pomona women’s basketball team topped Edinboro in quarterfinal action, 81-61, marking the Broncos’ first Elite Eight win since 2002. The result moves CPP into a semifinal matchup on Wednesday against the winner of Bentley and Drury. Tipoff for the Broncos’ Final Four game is set for 5:30 p.m. Pacific (8:30 p.m. Eastern) and the game will be aired on CBS Sports Network (DirecTV 221, Dish TV 158, Comcast 854, Time Warner 1322).

The Erie Insurance Arena crowd of 2,149 featured mostly Fighting Scot fans making the short 21-mile drive from Edinboro but CPP received plenty of support from the St. Peter Cathedral students that the Broncos visited on Monday. In Pomona, fans packed the Bronco Student Center to cheer on CPP while watching the NCAA.com broadcast.

Blackwell scored 35 points to match her season high as she went 10-for-13 at the free throw line and grabbed nine rebounds. Ashley Lovett pulled down nine boards as well while contributing 14 points. J.J. Judge delivered clutch three-pointers and finished with 13 points of her own.

As a team, CPP totaled 20 assists for the second-highest total of the season. Junior guard Tyler Woods led the way as an offensive catalyst, dishing out a career-best seven assists.
